Schiesswohl, Philip

Philip Schiesswohl was a loyal Chi Phi throughout his life. He entered the University of Illinois-Urbana in 1912 and graduated in 1915. There he was a member of the Ibis Club, a local fraternity started in 1910 that later became Sigma (University of Illinois) Chapter, of which Schiesswohl was a charter member.

Schiesswohl served as the first executive secretary of Chi Phi Fraternity. As the Fraternity expanded in the 1920s and adopted zone committees, it was determined that an executive secretary was needed. He served under the Alfred H. Hutchinson administration, a time of conservative expansion and organization within the administration.
