Williams, Oscar
Dr. Oscar Brown Williams was a faithful Chi Phi and accomplished professor. He was born in September 1895 and died in September 1960. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he became a member of Nu Chapter. Williams enlisted in the army medical department during World War I and was discharged in 1919. He then went back to the University of Texas at Austin to obtain a master’s degree in bacteriology and later earned his PhD from the University of California. Williams founded the Department of Bacteriology at the University of Texas, where he was a professor for many years.

Williams first joined the Chi Phi Grand Council when he was elected Grand Epsilon in 1953. He was elected Grand Alpha in 1957 and served until 1959. During his administration, he was a strong proponent of expansion. He also served Nu Chapter as their adviser through World War II. Williams’ son, Dr. Oscar B. Williams Jr. was also a member of Nu Chapter.
